Another fan sarcastically called Korderas a clown, prompting him to quote the tweet and reply in kind: “Here’s the classy reply from the clown. Need I say more?” Korderas began his career as a professional wrestling referee in 1985 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Initially hired as a driver by his friend Elio Zarlenga, he was soon suggested to become a referee. Korderas continued in the role until his release in 2009, but he has remained involved in the wrestling world.
We hope that Jimmy Korderas’ family will no longer be targeted, as this behavior is unacceptable. It certainly gave him something to tweet about, and we hope fans take his words to heart.
AEW’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite saw Jack Perry take an unprotected chair shot, leading to criticism from former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas. Korderas claimed it’s impossible to gimmick a steel chair for safety. In response, AEW’s QT Marshall criticized Korderas on Twitter, inviting him to AEW to see their safety measures or remain ignorant. Marshall emphasized his respect for industry veterans despite their public criticisms.
The July 24th match at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena featured Team AEW versus The Elite, with numerous violent moments, including Max Caster having thumbtacks placed in his mouth and Jack Perry being hit with his own chair by Mark Briscoe. Marshall clarified his argument was about Korderas not understanding AEW’s chair gimmicking process. After a private DM exchange, Marshall considered the matter settled. Despite the incident, Jack Perry was unharmed, but AEW may avoid similar spots in the future to prevent controversy.
