As names are being announced for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame Class, speculation is swirling within the wrestling community about Haku potentially being added to the list. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, recent developments within the company have fueled this speculation, suggesting an increased likelihood of Haku’s well-deserved induction.

A significant factor is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s recent appointment to the TKO board of directors. The Rock, who affectionately refers to Haku as his uncle, has a pivotal role in a major WrestleMania 40 storyline involving Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. Considering how heavily WWE is leaning into this program on the two nights of the biggest show of the year, having someone closely linked to the family go in makes sense. Moreover, Meltzer reported that Tama Tonga, a long-time star in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Haku’s adopted son, has reportedly recently signed with WWE. He may make his debut at or around that show.

Haku And The Rock

It’s not as though his nod into the Hall of Fame isn’t earned. Known as one of the toughest individuals in pro wrestling history, Haku boasts a storied career spanning both WWE and WCW. His tenure with WWE, from 1985 to 1992, saw him initially debut as King Tonga before adopting the name Haku. He was part of the Islanders before notably going out on his own with Bobby Heenan as his manager and earning the moniker King Haku in the late 1980s. Eventually, he formed The Colossal Connection with Andre the Giant, capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Following his WWE stint, Haku resurfaced in WCW in 1994, performing under the name Meng. He teamed up with Barbarian as The Faces of Fear. His influence extended to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he joined the Bullet Club alongside sons Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.

This Year’s Hall Of Fame Class Is Rounding Out Nicely

The 2024 WWE Hall of Fame class, the first chosen by Paul “Triple H” Levesque, promises to be noteworthy. If Haku secures a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame this year, he will join a distinguished class that already includes Paul Heyman and Bull Nakano.

With WrestleMania not far off, names are being announced rapidly. If Haku is in, it won’t take long to get confirmation from WWE.
