Here are the 9/11 ceremonies, remembrance events happening in Central Florida this year
ORLANDO, Fla. – Remembrance events throughout Central Florida are happening this weekend and next Thursday to honor the lives lost in the tragic Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, marking a moment in history many will never forget.

Here are some of the ceremonies you can attend:
Brevard County
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Rockledge
When: Saturday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m.
Where: Rockledge Civic Hub, 530 Barton Blvd.
What: Join the City of Rockledge as we honor and remember the lives lost and the heroes who emerged on Sept. 11, 2001.
This solemn ceremony will feature moving musical tributes, dynamic speakers, and a wreath-laying ceremony to pay respects to the victims, first responders, military members, and all those impacted by the events of that day.
We invite residents, families, and friends to come together in unity and reflection as we commemorate this important day in our nation’s history.
Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: Sacrifice Park, 120 Malabar Road SE
What: Join us in honoring the lives lost and the heroes who emerged on Sept. 11, 2001, at our Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony.
The event will take place at Sacrifice Park (between City Hall & DeGroodt Library) on Thursday, Sept. 11, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. The ceremony will include remarks from guest speakers and moments of reflection to commemorate this day of national significance.
All members of the public are welcome to attend.
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: The Avenue Viera, 2261 Town Center Ave. in Melbourne
What: Guests are welcome to pay their respects for the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, at The Avenue Viera’s World Trade Center memorial site. The site has remnants of the World Trade Center and is located across from AMC Theatres. Guests can visit any time during center hours.
The Avenue Viera will have flowers and flags available for guests to leave at the site or take with them in memory of the fallen.
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S Sykes Creek Parkway in Merritt Island
What: Featuring police and fire color guards, Fife and Drum Corp and much more with speakers who were there in NYC and DC on 9/11.
When: Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 a.m.
Where: Eau Gallie Square, 1453 Highland Ave.

Flagler County
September 11th Candlelight Memorial Service
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Parkway NW
What: The Palm Coast Fire Department’s annual 9/11 Candlelight Vigil will return to Heroes Memorial Park on Sept. 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., in commemoration of the 24th Anniversary of the attacks. The solemn memorial will honor and remember those that were lost on 9/11 and the days since.
“Nearly a quarter century later, 9/11 is a day that we will always remember, not only as proud firefighters, but as proud Americans,” Palm Coast Fire Chief Kyle Berryhill said in a statement. “We’re proud to be able to have this event each year to reflect and honor all of those that we lost on that day, as well as the thousands that have died since due to illnesses deriving from the recovery efforts.”
The public is encouraged to attend the event, and candles will be provided to all attendees. Heroes Memorial Park is located at 2860 Palm Coat Parkway NW. Due to limited parking at Heroes Memorial Park, additional parking will be available on Corporate Drive – directly across the street from the park, adjacent to Palm Coast Fire Station 21. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place inside Fire Station 21.
Lake County
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m.
Where: Clermont Arts and Recreation Center
What: The Clermont Police Department and Clermont Fire Department invite the community to honor those who lost their lives and the first-responders who heroically came to the rescue on Sept. 11, 2001.
Orange County
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m.
Where: Lake Nona VA Medical Center
What: The keynote speaker will be U.S. Army Veteran Calvin Wimbish, who served more than 33 years of active, Guard, and Reserve duty before accepting several combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. A retired Green Beret, aviator, infantry-paratrooper, and military intelligence officer, Wimbish returned to Afghanistan as a military contractor after his military retirement.
9/11 Remembrance and Candlelight Ceremony
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.
Where: Orlando Fire Station 1, 78 W Central Blvd.
What: Each year, the Orlando Fire Department honors the courageous firefighters and law enforcement who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, including the 2,977 lives lost in New York City, Washington, D.C. and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.
Polk County
When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m.
Where: South Central Park in downtown Winter Haven
What: This all-county event is dedicated to honoring and paying tribute to all first responders in Polk County. Equipment displays from police and fire agencies across our county will circle South Central Park with the 16th Annual Freedom Walk kicking off at 5:30 p.m.
The walk will be followed by a ceremony.
Seminole County
Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk
When: Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 a.m.
Where: Cranes Roost Park, 274 Cranes Roost Blvd. in Altamonte Springs
What: Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism. Built upon the mantra, “While we have time, LET US DO GOOD,” the Foundation supports our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes and their families.
The Seminole County Firefighters have had the distinct honor and privilege of working hand in hand with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and participating in every single race in Altamonte Springs since day 1. Each year, our firefighters run this 5K in bunker pants, jacket, and helmet to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Every donation helps to continue the support of this incredible organization.

When: Thursday, Sept. 11, at 8:30 a.m.
Where: 1605 S Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater
What: We invite our community to come together as we honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 24 years later, we remain committed to remembering the sacrifice and show gratitude for the courage displayed by those during and after the events of 9/11.
