Iberia is to launch flights between Madrid and Toronto in summer 2026 as it makes increased use of its new fleet of Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The Spanish carrier was the launch customer for the long-haul single-aisle aircraft last year, which has allowed it to add more transatlantic routes, including services to Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza and Monterrey.
Iberia’s services between Madrid and Toronto will launch on 13 June, with five flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The IAG-owned airline’s A321XLRs are fitted with 182 seats across business and economy cabins. The aircraft also offers fuel savings of more than 40 per cent compared with wide-body models, according to Iberia.
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s chief commercial, network development and alliances officer, added: “Operating this route with the Airbus A321XLR is not just an operational decision, but a statement of principles: innovation, efficiency and sustainability are the pillars on which we build our future.”
