In the latest Built for Trust episode, I spoke with David Reilly of World Wide Technology about how he approaches technology decisions in the current AI environment.
He lays out the questions he asks around cost, reliability, risk, talent, and business impact, and why that discipline matters when adoption is moving faster than most organizations are comfortable with.
This is one of those conversations that’s worth slowing down for.

In my career. I can’t come up with an example that. Went from zero to 60 as quick as this has done. Umm, I mean, it was the very, very end of 2022 yeah that ChatGPT gained global recognition when open I released the model. And at that time, coincidentally, I was at a bunch of VC events that were attended by enterprise CIOs, and every single enterprise CIO was in the same spot. Yeah. This wasn’t even on my radar until today. And today, my CEO has asked me, what are we doing? Yeah. And I haven’t got an answer to that question. And I think that that mismatch, we normally have a bit of time to prepare. Is this even the kind of thing that needs something, as I’ll say, mundane as a policy framework, the governance framework? Of course it does. But you generally have time to think about that because you’re connected to the industry, you’re at the coalface, You’ll find out about these things before anyone else. This is a bit unusual because even board members would have, would have seen that at the same time. All of your stakeholders are asking you at the same time as you’re trying at the back end of 2022 to figure out how you were going to adopt it.
