A new US survey suggests that video games are once again at the top of kids’ Christmas wish lists. Nearly three in five children aged five–seventeen say they plan to ask for some kind of game-related gift this year.
The most requested gaming item is not a console or even a specific game, but in-game currency. About 43% of kids who want gaming gifts say they are asking for digital currency like V-Bucks, Robux, or similar coins to spend in games they already play, ahead of requests for consoles (39%) and physical games (37%).
The same research, commissioned by the Entertainment Software Association and carried out with YouGov, also found that many kids want gaming to be something they share with family. More than half said they would like to play more games with their parents, suggesting it is not just about getting new stuff but having more time together.
