Measles case confirmed in DeKalb County, officials warn of possible exposure

DEKALB COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) — Officials issued a warning about possible measles exposure in DeKalb County.

This is the county’s first case this year and the second for Illinois.

The DeKalb County Health Department said people may have been exposed at the following locations and times:

  • Walmart at 2300 Sycamore Road from 2:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on March 2
  • Post Office at 600 East Lincoln Highway from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 9
  • Anyone who has been exposed and is not vaccinated should monitor themselves for symptoms the next few weeks.

    Symptoms of measles may include a rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red and watery eyes.

    Anybody who was exposed and developed a rash, and another one of these symptoms, should contact the health department.
