Men’s Soccer Downed 3-0 by Florida Atlantic

Boca Raton, Fla. — Creighton Men’s Soccer dropped a 3-0 decision in the opening match for the 2025 season on Thursday, August 21.

Two bad bounces gave the Owls a 2-0 edge at the break as Florida Atlantic scored in the ninth and 23rd minutes. The first tally, scored by Mamadou Diarra with 8:56 showing on the clock deflected off a Bluejay defender’s foot more than 15 feet into the air. The ricochet created a flawless angle that eluded Creighton goalkeeper Matthew Hudson’s outstretched arms and into the net.

Florida Atlantic’s second goal came at the 22:14 mark as Eli Conway’s shot glanced off the left post to get by Hudson once more.

The Owls put the contest out of reach with a third goal in the 65th minute (64:20) as Oliver Moller-Jensen scored inside the box.

A statistically even match saw both sides fire 13 shots, while the Bluejays held a 5-4 edge on corner opportunities. Creighton was cited for eight yellow cards in the match, while Florida Atlantic received its first yellow in the 89th minute.

The Bluejays return to the pitch on Sunday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m. against Florida International in a contest on ESPN+.
