MIAMI – Omaha men’s soccer kicks off the 15th season in program history Thursday as Omaha faces FIU at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Opening week concludes on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. Both road fixtures will stream on ESPN+.

Donovan Dowling‘s Mavericks enter 2025 coming off a 7-7-3 campaign a season ago, which saw Omaha register a 4-3-3 record at Caniglia Field. Omaha returns three of the team’s eight All-Summit League honorees from 2024, including Italo Jenkins (Atlanta, Ga.), Theo Klein (Strasbourg, France) and Sahai Williams (Surrey, British Columbia, Canada). Of Omaha’s three goalkeepers, only one returns from 2024 with Cole Stewart (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) coming back to Omaha for his senior campaign. Stewart recorded 10 saves in three complete matchups in 2024.

The Mavericks return an arsenal of offensive power with 33 points accounting for 12 goals back in the black and red.

FIU enters Thursday’s lid-lifter after advancing to the American Conference Championship match for the second time in three years before falling to eventual champion Charlotte in overtime. The Panthers and Mavericks have met once before with FIU defeating Omaha 2-0 in the first round of the 2017 NCAA tournament. After the Mavericks, FIU will face Omaha crosstown rival Creighton on Sunday.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s match with the Florida Atlantic Owls, Omaha heads to Boca Raton to face a side that led the American goals, assists and points in 2024. FAU’s Mamadou Diarra was named the American Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year on Monday. A Mali native and transfer from Southwestern, Diarra took the American by storm last season, tying for the conference lead in goals (8) and finished third in assists (8). Diarra was included in Top Drawer Soccer’s Top 100 Division I players, ranking 57th.

After the Sunshine State trip, Omaha welcomes Utah Valley to Caniglia Field for the Mavs’ home opener at 5 p.m. CT on Sunday, Aug. 31, streaming live on the Summit League Network.
