STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men’s soccer team will open the 2025 season on Thursday, August 21 as the Huskies will face the Syracuse Orange at the SU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra or can be streamed on ESPN+.

UConn returns key contributors from a season ago, including three of their top five point leaders, in Sabri Hanni, Charlie Holmes, and Marco Valentic, along with five returning starters: Hanni, Holmes, Nicolas Tomerius, Max Gummesson, and Johan Hamel.
A Look at Syracuse:
The Syracuse Orange are coming off a 7-7-3 record in 2024, making their fourth straight ACC Tournament appearance. The Orange are coached by Ian McIntyre who is entering his 16th season as the head coach. Syracuse was voted to finish 11th in the ACC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Orange return 13 players from their 2024 roster, including sophomore defender Chimere Omeze, who was selected as an ACC Preseason Player to Watch.
Series History:
The last time these two teams met was in 2022; Syracuse won 5-0. UConn has dropped the last four straight contests to Syracuse, last earning a win over the Orange in 2009. The Huskies lead the all-time series 22-14.
