Multiple arrests made after traffic stop yields drugs, firearms

OCILLA, Ga. (WALB) – Multiple people were taken into custody following a traffic stop Saturday, according to the South Central Drug Task Force.

Deputies with the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol conducted a traffic stop on Highway 319 near the Tift County and Irwin County line after observing a driver speeding and using a cell phone.

During the stop, deputies recovered firearms, cocaine and marijuana inside the vehicle.

Officers arrested and charged a 22-year-old with possession of cocaine and firearm-related offenses.

Officers also arrested and charged multiple juveniles ranging from 15 to 17 years old with possession of a firearm under the age of 21. The juveniles were released to their legal guardians.

The 16-year-old driver was cited for the traffic violations.

The South Central Drug Task Force is investigating the felony narcotics and firearms components of the case.
