TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Business owners will soon get some added protections under a new Florida law.
People will be able to add layers to their limited liability companies under a new law.
It will allow someone to essentially umbrella an LLC and add several smaller LLCs under that umbrella. Florida joins a handful of other states with similar regulations.
Florida Politics:
Senate Minority Leader Sen. Lori Berman, D-Boca Raton, said this is to help businesses grow in Florida.
“We want to promote business here in the state of Florida. We want businesses to come here, and this is a positive for businesses because since they can have the underlying companies, they don’t have to file documents for each of the companies. They can file on the parent company. So it will save businesses money and it’s incentive to get people to move here,” Berman said.
The new law takes effect next year.
