Kevin Byard is reuniting with his former coach in a new home.
The three-time All-Pro safety is signing a one-year, $9 million deal with the New England Patriots, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday, per sources.
Byard’s move to the northeast brings him back together with head coach Mike Vrabel, for whom Byard played in Tennessee from 2018 to 2023.
Under Vrabel, Byard established himself as one of the NFL’s best safeties, logging 19 interceptions, 43 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and 481 tackles over their first five years together. Byard added one more interception to that tally in 2023 before the Titans shipped him off to Philadelphia in an October 2023 trade with the Eagles, a departure that preceded Vrabel’s exit by less than three months.
