Rams fire special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn after OT loss to Seahawks

That game was the third time this season that special teams played a notable role in a Rams loss.

In Week 3, the Eagles blocked a game-winning field goal in the final seconds. In Week 5, the Rams had another kick blocked — this time an extra point — in the fourth quarter of an eventual overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Thursday’s loss, which dropped the Rams (11-4) to second in the NFC West, proved to be the final straw for head coach Sean McVay.

Blackburn joined the Rams as special teams coordinator in 2023.
