Strong cold front to bring cooler weather to Central Florida next week

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida should get ready for a significant weather change starting mid-next week.

A strong cold front is expected to move through the area Wednesday into Thursday, bringing a welcome cooldown just in time for Halloween.

Temperature Outlook Next week

The front, currently positioned out to the west over western Texas, is forecast to usher in noticeably cooler air. Temperatures are expected to drop to the lower 60s by Thursday morning, with afternoon highs only reaching the lower to mid 70s. By Friday, morning temperatures could dip to around 56 degrees, topping out near 73 degrees for the day.

Breezy conditions, high surf, and rip current advisories along the coast

Before the cold front arrives, Central Florida’s coastline is in for a blustery weekend. Sustained northeast winds between 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour are expected to persist throughout both days. These strong breezes bring more than just a refreshing feel — there’s a high rip current risk and a high surf advisory in effect for all coastline areas except Flagler County, continuing through late Sunday.

High Surf Advisory

Breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet are likely, and the possibility of minor beach and dune erosion can’t be ruled out. Everyone heading to the beach should stay updated and exercise caution. Weekend and onward to Halloween: What to expect for your plans

The weekend starts on a pleasant note, with highs in the lower to middle 80s on Saturday and plenty of sunshine — great outdoor weather for most of the region.

Highs today

By Sunday, the humidity is expected to rise and some rain chances return. A few showers may stream through during the morning and afternoon, with brief downpours possible.
