CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – After a strong first weekend of the 2025 field hockey season, which saw Atlantic Coast Conference teams post a national best 12-5 record, the action will continue Thursday, September 4.
 
Teams from the ACC will play a total of 11 ranked opponents this weekend, including seven foes ranked in the NFHCA top 10. The non-conference slate also features five top-10 clashes, highlighted by two games that will be broadcast on ACC Network. 
 
The top-10 clashes begin on Friday, September 5, at 3 p.m. ET, when No. 8 Boston College meets No. 4 Maryland in Durham, North Carolina. Later in the evening, No. 1 Northwestern will travel to No. 5 Duke at 6 p.m. ET, which will be televised on ACC Network.
 
On Sunday, September 7, Boston College will meet the top-ranked Wildcats in Durham at noon ET on ACC Network. At 1:30 p.m. ET, No. 2 North Carolina will take on No. 10 Princeton on the road. The clashes of top-10 squads will conclude at 3 p.m. ET when Maryland meets Duke in Durham.
 
Additionally, California and Stanford will each host No. 6 Harvard throughout the weekend. The Golden Bears will meet the Crimson at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, while the Cardinal will host Harvard at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. Both matches will stream on ACCNX.
 
Noting ACC Field Hockey

  • The ACC will play 11 matches against ranked teams this weekend, highlighted by five top-10 showdowns. 
  • ACC teams will face 17 opponents from the Big Ten throughout the first two weeks of the season. In Week 1, the ACC went 5-3 against the Big Ten.
  • Six ACC teams begin the season ranked in the NFHCA Coaches Poll, led by No. 2 North Carolina.
  • The ACC’s  12 wins on the opening weekend of the season were tied for the most of any conference nationally.
  • Preseason favorite North Carolina made its 15th Final Four appearance in 16 seasons in 2024. 
  • Of the 11-member preseason All-ACC team, six of the honorees were All-Americans in 2024, while eight members were All-ACC selections last season.
