With his family reunited after two years in prison, Todd Chrisley wants to tell his side of the story. The reality TV star is revamping his image with Lifetime‘s The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.

Todd and his wife built an empire through his real estate ventures, and his family showed off their lavish wealth in their USA Network TV show Chrisley Knows Best. In 2019, he and his wife Julie were indicted of bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy after being accused of evading nearly $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016.

The couple was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His wife was also convicted of wire fraud. Todd was  sentenced to 12 years in prison and 16 months probation, while Julie received seven years in prison plus 16 months probation, according to Insider and Fox 5 Atlanta.

On May 28, 2025, Donald Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley. “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow. Is that OK? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow,” the President told his children Savannah and Chase.

“For the past two and a half years, I’ve done everything in my power to fight for my parents’ freedom and bring them home,” the couple’s daughter, Savannah, said in a statement. “This moment is the answer to countless prayers, and I am beyond grateful to President Trump for seeing the truth and restoring my family.”

Although he listed more than $4.2 million in assets, his debts totaled $49.4 million.

According to a DOJ press release, Todd and his wife conspired to defraud community banks in the Atlanta area to obtain more than $36 million in personal loans. The bureau also listed that they used the money on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel – and used new fraudulent loans to pay back old ones. The government also ordered the Chrisleys to pay $17.2 million in restitution.
