Utah State Golf Travels to California for UC Santa Barbara Invitational

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s golf team will travel to Santa Barbara, California, to compete in the UCSB-hosted Gaucho Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, April 6-7, at the Sandpiper Golf Club, which plays at par-72, 7,159 yards.

Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. (MT) both days. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.

Along with the Aggies and host UC Santa Barbara, the nine-team field includes Boise State, Creighton, Denver, North Dakota, UC Riverside, Utah Tech and Westmont.

Scheduled to compete for the Aggies is sophomore Chase Goetschel (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), sophomore Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah), freshman Zach Skinner (Providence, Utah), sophomore Hunter Hall (Cody, Wyo.) and senior Luis Cantu (Monterrey, Mexico).

Utah State placed 15th out of 25 teams last week at the Wyoming-hosted Cowboy Classic, held at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, with a 14-over-par 878 (292-299-287). Goetschel led USU as he finished tied for 33rd with a 1-under 215 (73-74-68) for his third under par finish this season, including his second in as many weeks.

Goetschel leads USU with a stroke average of 72.58 over 24 rounds. Moody has a stroke average of 73.33 over 24 rounds. Cantu has a stroke average of 75.00 over 15 rounds. Skinner has a stroke average of 75.48 over 21 rounds. Hall has a stroke average of 76.56 over nine rounds.
