Video shows moment Chuck E. Cheese mascot gets arrested, escorted out of building in front of kids
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Gray News) – Police in Florida have released body camera video from an arrest in July in which a man in a Chuck E. Cheese mascot uniform was taken into custody.
The incident happened at the Chuck E. Cheese on Sharer Road in Tallahassee.
According to court records, Jermell Jones, 41, was arrested on credit card theft and fraud charges.

Newly released bodycam video shows officers with the Tallahassee Police Department entering the Chuck E. Cheese building, where Jones worked.
“We’re going to detain the mouse, dude,” one officer says as they enter the building.
“Yes, we are,” another responds.
They approach the mascot, place him in handcuffs, and escort him out of the building in front of families and children.
Officers lead Jones to a police cruiser and take off the costume’s mouse head to speak with him.

At one point, a mother expresses her disappointment with the police for arresting Chuck E. Cheese in front of children, upsetting them.
“The parents are not happy with me, or us, for detaining Chuck E. Cheese,” one officer says to another.
“Too bad,” the other responds.
Jones is accused of stealing a credit card and using it.
Upon searching Jones, officers found receipts linked to the fraudulent charges, WCTV reported.
Jones was booked into the Leon County Jail.
