Drivers are being warned of a series of overnight closures on a main route between England and Wales over the next four weeks.
The A483 in Shropshire will be shut between Llynclys and Llanymynech, on the border with Wales, between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT each day, from Monday to 20 March, National Highways said.
They will allow contractors to lay a “high-friction” road surface, repaint road markings and carry out drainage surveys.
Joseph Walmsley, from National Highways, said the new road surface would “ensure people have a better chance of stopping if someone pulls into their path”.
