Which hip-hop artists have the most Grammys?

Musicians worldwide have always respected the Grammys, which have been the most prestigious award an artist can earn in the music business for decades. However, hip-hop’s relationship with the ceremony has always been rocky.
Rap music wasn’t always mainstream, and for a long time, the Grammys rejected the notion hip-hop was a credible genre worthy of an award. However, in 1989, the establishment could no longer ignore rap’s popularity and decided to (begrudgingly) give rap its own category. Although rap has seen tremendous success globally, many fans despise the establishment for its huge mistakes.
Huge hip-hop artists such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Nicki Minaj have never been given a Grammy in their careers despite their obvious culture-shifting status as MCs. As such, the validity of the Grammys has been called into question multiple times, and is every year.
The establishment has made many obvious mistakes, and some of its most egregious usually pertain to hip-hop culture. In 2014, Macklemore received a Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’ and ‘Best Rap Performance’ over Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, m.A.A.d City and Drake’s Nothing Was The Same.
There are various other horrendous snubs, and as such, lyricists such as Eminem and KRS-One have actively called out the establishment for not having a true understanding of the culture and not being a truly merit-based award.
Despite it being labelled a “pay-to-win” award by most hip-hop fans, receiving a Grammy or merely a Grammy nomination is seen as an achievement in music. Still, with a Grammy to your name as a producer, writer, or musician, you become part of the upper echelon, as it is still the highest accolade in music.
That said, some MCs have had fluke wins, while others have accepted so many that they can no longer count them. Kendrick swept the hip-hop category at this year’s annual Grammy Awards ceremony. However, he does not hold the most trophies. The hip-hop artist with the most Grammys is, unsurprisingly, the one and only Jay-Z.
Jay-Z is one of the highest-grossing hip-hop musicians of all time, and his contribution to the culture over the years has been unparalleled. As such, it is fairly unremarkable that he sits atop the pile.
How many Grammys does Jay-Z have?
Jay-Z holds the most Grammys with a whopping 25 wins. However, he has some competition. He is only slightly ahead of his prodigy child, Kanye West, who has 24 wins.
Kanye recently went on a rant about how terrible Kendrick Lamar is and how hip-hop is trying to replace him. Still, the Compton emcee can’t be that bad of a musician as he ranks third behind Kanye, holding 22 Grammy awards. One would think that Drake is up there, but no. Below, we have compiled a list of the hip-hop artists with the most Grammy Awards.
