GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The Arizona women’s golf team opened the 2025-26 season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate on Monday with Nena Wongthanavimok leading the Wildcats at 2-over-par 74. Arizona sits in a tie for ninth place at 16-over, but is just seven shots out of the top five.
Wongthanavimok carded birdies on the par-4 first and par-3 fourth holes, turning in an even-par 37 on the front before finishing with a matching 37 on the back nine.
Julia Misemer and Charlotte Back each posted rounds of 75 to sit one shot behind Wongthanavimok. Misemer rebounded from a double bogey at the par-4 second with birdies at Nos. 7 and 14, closing with an even-par 36 on the inward nine. Back played steady golf on the front with a 36 that included a birdie at the short par-3 fourth.
Angela Arora signed for an 80 after an up-and-down round that featured a birdie on the par-4 10th but bogeys on four of her final six holes. Sara Vitasek rounded out the lineup with an 81 that included a birdie at the par-4 seventh.
The Wildcats are the defending champions at this event after capturing the title in head coach Giovana Maymon‘s first tournament as head coach.
Arizona will look to climb the leaderboard in Tuesday’s second round at American Dunes Golf Club with the Wildcats teeing off at 10:23 a.m. Fans can catch the action live on Golf Channel from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).
