Nike and the Wu-Tang Clan on Saturday officially released one of the most treasured sneaker collaborations of all time — the Nike x Wu-Tang Clan Dunk.
The limited-edition sneaker returned 25 years after the original limited release. It’s available globally on Nike SNKRS and at select retail locations starting Saturday.
The Black and Pollen colorway of the modern Dunk High mirrors the original, which features “Killa Beez” color blocking, premium leather and the hip-hop group’s distinctive “W” logo embroidered on the tongue label and outer heel.
“These Dunks are important to me and the Wu-Tang legacy because of the cultural impact they’ve had since their original release,” said Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA. “For many years, the sneaker world was reserved for athletes and some entertainers, and Nike recognizing us in this way is a testament to hip-hop and our contribution to culture.”
The sneaker retails for $150.
As of Saturday afternoon, it was sold out on Nike.com.
You can check local retailers to see if they have the sneakers available and in stock, or go on sites like eBay, StockX or GOAT for sneakers being sold by resellers.
Wu-Tang Clan is a hip-hop music group that formed on Staten Island in 1992. Its members include RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and until his death in 2004, Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Cappadonna later became an official member.
While they emerged in the early 1990s as a hip-hop group, they also became a cultural phenomenon thanks to their unique blend of gritty lyricism, kung-fu references and innovative production that created a powerful sonic tapestry that transcended the genre. The group reached far beyond music to influence fashion, film and art.
It continues to resonate today, both in the hip-hop and basketball mecca of New York and communities across the world that draw inspiration from Wu-Tang Clan and its members.
The Nike Dunk was born as a basketball show, reprised by the skateboarding community, and later adopted as a versatile streetwear style with widespread influence across contemporary sneaker culture.
This collaboration honors the history of the trendsetting hip-hop group and streetwear silhouette.
“The shoe has already carved out a legacy as a silhouette people were striving to possess, and now thousands of people will have a chance to own a pair,” RZA said. “These sneakers are a trophy.”
