Louisville police shut down illegal ‘pop-up party’ on River Road | Crime Reports

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police says it shut down an illegal “pop-up party” Saturday night.

LMPD said Metro ABC requested assistance to shut down an illegal party in the 1300 block of River Road, near the Big Four Bridge, around 11:30 p.m. There were several hundred people in a parking lot.

Police shut down the party, but the crowd moved to nearby parking lots. According to LMPD, officers ordered people to clear the area and they complied without incident.

There weren’t any incidents on Bardstown Road or Baxter Avenue Saturday night, according to police. Police didn’t arrest anyone and four cars were towed.

In response to recent crime and disruption along Bardstown Road, LMPD previously said it would take a more aggressive approach to prevent the so-called street takeovers. As WDRB reported in recent weeks, crowds have poured onto Bardstown Road, partying, fighting and blocking traffic in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday.

LMPD said Bardstown Road “maintained its usual vibrancy with many people enjoying their evening” Saturday night.

“We appreciate the cooperation from our community. We also appreciate the dedication of our LMPD officers, other law enforcement partners and first responders who work tirelessly to keep our city safe for all who live, work, and visit here,” LMPD said in a statement.
