Several Democrats, including Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Arizona, Sen. Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts, and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-California, are calling on President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and Congress to boot him from office using a never-before-invoked provision of the Constitution.
“The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it’s putting all of our lives at risk,” Ansari said in a Jan. 19 social media post after Trump sent a text to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, saying the United States’ plans to take control of Greenland stemmed from his not winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Donald Trump is unfit to lead and clearly out of control. Invoke the 25th Amendment,” Kamlager-Dove said in a post on the same day.
“Invoke the 25th Amendment,” Markey said in multiple posts, also on Jan. 19.
