Federal task force officials said they found their 84th missing child Monday, Oct. 27.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — More than 80 children have been found and over 1,600 arrests have been made since the creation of the Memphis Safe Task Force, a spokesperson announced Tuesday.

Federal task force officials said they found their 84th missing child Monday, Oct. 27, who was reported missing about two weeks prior by family members. The child was returned to their legal guardian.

When the federal task force began, there were 143 children reported missing in Shelby County, according to the U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson. Several of the children found were located outside of Tennessee.

“The Memphis Safe Task Force is committed to using every resource available to locate and recover missing and endangered children,” said Tyreece Miller, the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee.

As of Oct. 27, federal task force officials have reported 1,638 arrests. The data report includes 10 homicide arrests, 178 narcotics arrests, 152 firearm arrests and 693 served warrants. More than 280 firearms have been seized as well.
