Family Fun Fest is June 3  

CANTON – Childhood Resource Center, Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health, and Family Success Network will have a free Family Fun Fest in downtown Canton from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 3.

The event will include free food, drinks, personal hygiene bags, music, a bubble machine, photo booth, yard games, giveaways, vendors, and community resources.

Responsible Fatherhood Cookout is June 7  

CANTON – The Responsible Fatherhood Cookout will be 1 to 5 p.m. June 7 at the Southeast Community Playground, 401 14th St. SE.

The event is hosted by the Greater Stark County Urban League. There will be a free cookout-style lunch, bounce houses and games for kids, Punt Pass & Play, on-site expungement services, and career navigators and resource tables.

Movie on Centennial Plaza 

CANTON – The Centennial Plaza Movie Series begins at 7 p.m. June 4 with a showing of “Kung Fu Panda 4.”

A free family-friendly movie will be shown outdoors on Centennial Plaza’s big screen downtown every Wednesday this summer at 7 p.m., from June 4 through Aug. 13, with pre-movie entertainment beginning at 6:15 p.m. 

Learn about pop culture and World War II propaganda

CANTON −McKinley Presidential Library & Museum Associate Director of Education and Membership Baillie Mosier will showcase the effects of pop culture and propaganda during World War II at 6 p.m. June 12 at the Soup at Six event.

Learn about the use of cartoons, movies, radio shows, and comic books and how their industries were changed by the outbreak of the war. 

The cost is $25 per person and includes soup, bread, dessert, a beverage and the program. Prepaid reservations are required and can be made by calling 330-455-7043 or visiting the events tab at www.McKinleyMuseum.org. The reservation deadline is June 5.

Greek Fest is June 5-7 

CANTON – The Canton Greek Fest will take place on the grounds of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 251 25th St. NW, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily June 5, 6 and 7.  

The event includes indoor and outdoor dining options, Greek pastries, traditional Greek dancing, gift shop, live music, wine sampling, Greek cooking demonstrations, silent auction items, and a kids’ playground.

Art in the Park is June 7 

HARTVILLE – Hartville’s second annual Art in the Park will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7. The event will include artisans displaying their work, live music, interactive art exhibits and food trucks at Deuble Square Park.  

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Historic Downtown Gateway will be held at 1 p.m. at Workman’s Point, adjacent to Workman’s Auto and the Hartville Elevator. To support this community initiative, the public is encouraged to purchase commemorative pavers at hlcd.org/paver. 

This year, the event will feature “The Lyrical Gesture: An Interactive Live Paint Experience” with Ohio artist Adam Hayward.   Public parking will be available at Lake Elementary School and other downtown lots as designated. Toby Keith Tribute show June 7

Show celebrates late comedian Don Knotts 

LAKE TWP. –  The Hartville Kitchen, 1015 Edison St. NW, will present Karen Knotts: Tied up in Knotts from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 5. Karen Knotts will celebrate the life and legacy of her father, comedian Don Knotts. This father-daughter story will take the audience on a journey from Don’s early days in New York City theater to his career in television and film. Doors open at noon.

Massillon Cruise In & Music Festival is June 7

MASSILLON – The Massillon Cruise In & Music Festival will be noon to 9 p.m. June 7 downtown. Along with classic vehicles and motorcycles and food trucks, live entertainment will feature the Kahuna Kings from 2 to 4 p.m.; Steve R. Trent, 4:15 to 6:15 p.m.; and Karri Fedor and Kerosene, 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Massillon Museum offers Littles Lunch and Learn 

MASSILLON – The Massillon Museum will offer a new program, Littles Lunch and Learn, from noon to 1 p.m. June 10. Guests can enjoy a Stark Parks wildlife presentation along with cookies and lemonade. 

A spinoff of the museum’s successful Brown Bag Lunch series, Littles Lunch and Learn is geared toward early and middle childhood, but it is open to all ages.

Salute to Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty

MASSILLON – The Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E, will present Twitty & Lynn: A Salute to Conway & Loretta from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 6. Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty, grandchildren of duo Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, will honor their grandparents with music and storytelling.

Library sets programs on science, D-Day

  • Mad Science Ohio, 11 a.m. to noon June 4: Join the Mad Scientists for a program filled with colorful demonstrations and experiments.

Music, food trucks in North Canton  

NORTH CANTON – Sparkling Lion Champagne, a rock/pop duo from Dover, will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 5 at North Canton City Hall, 145 N. Main St., to start the North Canton Summer Series. Enjoy live music, food trucks A Movable Feast and Milk & Honey, and adult beverages.   

Pep Tamargo Memorial Fishing Derby

PERRY TWP. – The Pep Tamargo Memorial Children’s fishing derby for ages 4 through 15 will be June 7 at Sippo Lake Marina. Fishing starts at 8 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Berkley Fishing Team, who will be on hand to provide instruction, as well as provide prizes and giveaways. Bring your own pole and gear. Concert series starts June 5 

PLAIN TWP. – The 11th annual Summer Serenades in the Park Concert Series with Stark Parks and the Canton Symphony Orchestra will begin with a concert from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 5 at the Plain Township Amphitheater.   • Stark Parks’ summer photo contest starts June 1. The contest is for all amateur photographers and runs from June until September. For more information, visit StarkParks.com/summerphotos. 
  • Beekeeping 101: Kids Edition! will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 6 at Quail Hollow Park. In this hands-on class, kids ages 8 to 12 will learn how bees live, work together and make honey. Registration is required at StarkParks.com. The fee is $5 for in-county residents and $7 for out-of-county residents. 
  • The first Ranger Walk will be from 4 to 5 p.m. June 4 at Quail Hollow Park. Join law enforcement rangers for a one-mile guided walk and learn how they protect wildlife and visitors and the importance of conservation. The program is free, but registration is required at StarkParks.com.  
  • National Trails Day Hike will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Quail Hollow Park. The program is free, but registration is required at StarkParks.com.  
  • Night Hike: Petros Lake Park will be from 8:30 to 10 p.m. June 6. Explore the darkness and search for nocturnal wildlife. The program is free, but registration is required at StarkParks.com.  
  • Tour the Stewart Manor House at Quail Hollow Park from 2 to 3 p.m. June 8. The 1920s-era historical home has no elevator. A fee of $5 per person or $20 per family (cash at the door) goes toward the upkeep of the home. No preregistration is required.
