United Way, ESU team up for first-ever Video Game Tournament

With its annual Community Celebration now less than a month away, the United Way of the Flint Hills went into a new area of community engagement Saturday, holding its first-ever Video Game Tournament at Emporia State University’s Esports Arena.

Thirty players signed up to play games like NCAA Football, Mario Kart, Fortnite and Super Smash Bros. United Way Drive Chair Tagan Trahoon says there is growth potential for next year.

Winning contestants were:

*Fortnite: Benjamin Pachacano
*NCAA Football: Onterrio Robinson
*Mario Kart: Nathan Goodwin
*Super Smash Bros: Jesse Streiff

The United Way is accepting reservations for its annual Community Celebration, which will be May 22 at the Bowyer Building. More information is available online at unitedwayoftheflinthills.org or by calling 620-342-7564.
