No, that’s not true: The story that California’s governor filed a defamation lawsuit against a long list of people who “publicly criticized state-level financial handling” was made up by a network of foreign-run Facebook pages and websites. The network, managed out of Vietnam, regularly publishes dozens of copies of the same made-up story but swapping in different celebrities as the main character.
Almost identical versions of the claim were made on Facebook about at least 14 people, including a post (archived here) published by the Whispered Praise page on March 26, 2026. The text opened:
