Florida woman faces felonies after brutal dog abuse caught on camera

A Tampa woman is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say real-time crime cameras captured her violently abusing a small dog outside her apartment.

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say that on Thursday, 33-year-old Imania Davis of Tampa was observed on Real Time Crime Cameras— cameras that use live data and tech to speed police response — leaving her apartment complex on the 1100 block of E 127th Avenue.

In the video, Davis is seen carrying a small white dog and then “willingly and intentionally” throwing the 22-pound dog onto the asphalt. Deputies say the dog returned to Davis, the owner, timid and with his tail tucked between his legs.

As it approached, Davis kicked the dog before slapping the dog’s head twice. Moments later, she’s seen grabbing the dog by the scruff of its neck and carrying it, swinging it back and forth, and then throwing the dog 10 feet into the air.

She then approached the dog again, as the small dog was actively shaking in fear, according to the criminal probable cause affidavit.

The dog was later examined by a veterinarian and was found to have a broken front leg, and was actively bleeding from its nose from a “suspected unknown severity head wound.”

Davis was subsequently booked for six counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
