Much of Northern California will see another hot day Thursday, with highs about 10 degrees above normal.

Expect a mild morning with scattered clouds and light winds before clouds thin and onshore flow returns later today.

Stronger onshore flow will bring cooler weather Friday, with temperatures dipping slightly below normal this weekend.

Thursday forecast

Thursday will be another hot day with afternoon temperatures running roughly 10 degrees above seasonal normals.

Clouds will gradually clear through the afternoon for more sunshine.

IMPACT DAY for heat

This is considered an IMPACT DAY due to the afternoon heat.

Anyone in the valley and foothills spending time outdoors should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces.

Returning Delta Breeze

A breeze will pick up in the afternoon, returning from the west. Expect winds 10-15 mph to linger through the evening.

Cooling trend

This onshore flow is expected to strengthen into Friday, helping temperatures trend downward.

Foothills & Sierra 7 day forecast

A weather system is expected to drop out of the northwest on Saturday, strengthening winds in the Sierra on Saturday and reinforcing our cooling trend.

Valley 7 day forecast

Additional relief is also expected in the valley this weekend as breezy winds strengthen Saturday too.

Sunday will be calmer and a touch warmer with a north flow filling in behind the responsible system
