Natasha Lyonne’s recent social media activity has upset some fans, who are accusing her of supporting President Donald Trump.
The “Poker Face” star, 47, first responded to a video of Vice President JD Vance at a Republican campaign rally in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on Oct. 19, calling him a “sketchy mofo.”
During the rally, a man was escorted away after shouting about the Jeffrey Epstein files. Vance responded with a quip about illegal border crossings.
“Sketchy mofo – prefer trump,” Lyonne wrote in a quoted reply on X on Oct. 20.
She said that Vance’s remarks are “even scarier,” adding “don’t really know how we arrived at this aesthetic as baseline normal, but c’est la dominoes.” She called the late prolific sci-fi dystopian author Octavia Butler “a soothsayer” and called out “Grimey times.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Lyonne’s representatives for comment.
Natasha Lyonne causes a stir with four emojis
The “Russian Doll” actress continued to stir social media with a wordless quoted reply to a post in which Trump praised Elon Musk after the billionaire Tesla founder announced his plan to gift one share of SpaceX stock to every child in the United States.
Trump thanked his “legendary friend” Musk “for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through TRUMP ACCOUNTS!”
“This is exactly what was envisioned when we created TRUMP ACCOUNTS – Bringing together the GREAT PRIVATE SECTOR, Elon and so many more, to invest in our children, by far our greatest and most important asset, and give every American Child a piece of the American Dream. Thank you Elon!”
Lyonne responded to Trump’s message on Oct. 20 with four emojis: a rocket, a saluting face, a sun and a smiling face wearing sunglasses.
According to the White House, every U.S. citizen under 18 with a valid Social Security number now has a Trump Account in their name that a parent or guardian can claim through the Trump Accounts app. Individuals, companies and local governments can contribute up to a combined $5,000 annually.
Fans quickly criticized the Emmy-nominated actress’s post, with one user replying, “oh no mama, delete this,” and another writing, “say you got hacked.”
Remarks come months after reported plane incident
Lyonne’s social media frenzy comes months after reports that a commercial airline removed her from a flight in April.
Page Six reported that around April 7, she boarded a red-eye flight to New York City on Delta Air Lines and was allegedly escorted off the plane after failing to follow flight instructions, including closing her laptop and fastening her seat belt before takeoff.
She seemingly referenced the incident in an April 9 X post when she addressed missing a guest appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
“My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports,” Lyonne wrote. “Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess [it] wasn’t in the cards. Who owns Page Six/New York Post now again?”
In a follow-up post on X, she said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained her during the alleged flight incident.
“Boarded seamlessly with just a backpack and sneakers, eager for a nap. Plan was to be bushy tailed [and] beauty rested, as I was meant to head straight to glam for a slot with our beloved @DrewBarrymore upon landing,” she wrote. “But I guess ICE had other plans, [and] I was detained instead. Sign of the times, I guess.”
