On today’s edition of The Spark, our weekly journalist roundtable broke down three major stories shaping communities across the Commonwealth — from the Chesapeake Bay to the Lehigh Valley to the long-debated future of Three Mile Island.

WITF Capitol Reporter Jaxon White unpacked Gov. Josh Shapiro’s appointment to a panel tasked with steering the continued cleanup of the Chesapeake Bay. Pennsylvania’s role in the Bay’s health has long been under scrutiny, and the panel’s work is expected to influence water quality and conservation efforts for years to come.

Lydia McFarlane of WVIA joined the conversation to discuss new plans from the Temple University School of Dentistry. The school is preparing to open a satellite campus in Tamaqua, aiming to expand access to dental education and provide much-needed services to communities in the Lehigh Valley.

Rounding out the discussion, Ian Karbal of the Pennsylvania Capital-Star examined a major federal move: a $1 billion loan to Constellation Energy for the restart of Unit 1 at Three Mile Island.
