It’s a new week, which means it’s time to mine Landman’s latest episode for North Texas Easter eggs. The West Texas-set oil rig drama, co-created by Taylor Sheridan, has shot across Dallas-Fort Worth. The script, accordingly, reflects the milieu.
Here are some of the local ties in episode 7 of season two.
Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug featured on soundtrack
“Drink Don’t Need No Mix,” a 2024 song from Shaboozey featuring BigX, played over a scene of oil rig workers gathered to celebrate Boss’ (Mustafa Speaks) 20th work anniversary with M-Tex Oil. Country artists are a mainstay of the Sheridan universe soundtracks – a category BigX can now be counted in, after he forayed into the genre with a crossover album in August.
Ainsley shares her Fort Worth-set dream wedding
Ainsley (Michelle Randolph), who has a taste for the finer things in life, unveils her dream wedding scenario: “Wedding’s gonna be at St. Andrew’s in downtown Fort Worth, the reception at the barn at Circle T Ranch. You and Daddy need to start making friends with Ross Perot Jr. cause it is real expensive” she says to her mother Angela (Ali Larter) and brother Cooper (Jacob Lofland) on a car drive.
Sheridan and Perot Jr. are well-acquainted in real life. The billionaire real estate developer teamed up with Sheridan earlier this year to open a production campus in Fort Worth.
