MANCHESTER, Tenn. – A body found in a Tennessee field earlier this month has now been identified as a Florida grandmother, according to Nashville CBS affiliate WTVF.

The outlet reported that the woman — identified as 40-year-old Allecia Wolfe — was last seen getting into a car in Orlando on July 11, per Wolfe’s daughter.

Just three days later, her body was discovered over 600 miles away in Manchester, sparking questions about how she ended up there, authorities said.

Regardless, the case is now being investigated as a homicide, WTVF noted.

In an interview with Wolfe’s daughter, WTVF learned that the grandmother had struggled with substance abuse, and not hearing from her for an extended period of time wasn’t uncommon.

In addition, the daughter said she learned that Wolfe’s body had been found in a field near the Trucker Inn in Manchester, without gunshot or stab wounds, WTVF reported.

Meanwhile, Wolfe’s mother, Cindy Turner, told News 6 that she last spoke with Wolfe on July 11. As she was in the process of filing a missing person’s report, she received the devastating call that Wolfe’s body had been found on July 14.

“A mother’s worst nightmare, for your child to be taken from you like this,” Turner said. “A parent always thinks that they are going to go before their children.”

Turner acknowledged her daughter had battled personal challenges like addiction, but she said that should not overshadow the fact that Wolfe was a person who deserved dignity and justice.

“It’s very traumatic. It’s very heart-wrenching,” she said. “Someone has to stop these people. I want them to be held responsible.”

Wolfe’s grandmother said she was in disbelief when she got the call that Wolfe’s body had been found so far from her Orlando home.

“Flabbergasted,” she said. “We’re trying to get answers. I won’t stop until I get the answers that I need.”

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call the Manchester Police Department at 931-728-2099.
