SACRAMENTO, Calif. (WLOX) — A man was arrested and charged Thursday with making threats against Jackson County Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole, the mother of a friend of Nolan Wells, according to court documents.
Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce, 27, of Sacramento, is in custody on an allegation that he sent a death threat to Cole via Facebook Messenger. The message to Cole described a package being sent to her.
“It’s gonna blow you away when you see it. Once that package is opened, the timer will start. And then you have maybe 10 seconds or less to ask God for forgiveness,” the message said.
Dumarce was charged with interstate transmission of threatening communication, which carries the maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years’ supervised release.
According to documents related to Dumarce’s indictment, investigators with the FBI tracked him down by tracing the email associated with his Facebook account. Through Google records, investigators discovered an address in Sacramento, California, that was connected to Dumarce. Investigators cross referenced the address with cellphone information and confirmed Dumarce’s location.
Cole is not the only person related to the Wells’ case that has reported receiving threats. Earlier this month, Nolan Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley-Wells, reported threats made against her. This week, an Ocean Springs family announced plans to pursue legal recourse against online content creators the family said are responsible for false accusations and threats made against them.
“At the federal level, the FBI has been working to address interstate threats that were received by individuals related to this matter, but these efforts are in parallel with Jackson County’s independent investigation,” a spokesperson for the FBI’s Jackson office told WLOX Wednesday.
