Cleric urges youth to dress decently, shun fashion trends
Pastor Adebowale Jeremiah of the Word of Life Church, Ilorin, has advised the youths to dress decently and shun misleading fashion trends from social media.
Mr Jeremiah, in an interview with journalists on Saturday in Ilorin, said that social media fashion trends are misleading many youths in the country.
According to him, most youths follow social media dress codes in the name of fashion and forget their decency.
”They dress half naked, forgetting their moral upbringing and the danger such exposes them to.
”It is morally wrong to see every trending fashion style on social media as the best without considering the obvious negative implications.
“You must dress and cover your body properly. Stop dressing half-naked all in the name of fashion.
“African culture appreciates decent dress. We can’t adopt everything Western and forget our culture and moral upbringing,” he said.
The clergyman, however, advised parents to watch their children closely on how they dress before they step out in public.
“Charity begins at home and parents should impact their wards positively by teaching them morals, rather than pampering them.”
