Council backs ‘Intergenerational Week’ with call to connect
Residents across the Causeway Coast and Glens area are being encouraged to take a small but meaningful step to support others this weekend, as part of Global Intergenerational Week.
As part of the campaign, Age Friendly Causeway has partnered with Causeway Loneliness Network to launch the simple but powerful message: “Take 10 to Connect.”
The campaign encourages people to spend just 10 minutes connecting with someone – whether that’s making a phone call, checking in on a neighbour, sending a message, or inviting someone for a walk.
The initiative highlights how small actions can make a big difference in reducing loneliness and strengthening community connections.
Stephanie Scott, Causeway Coast and Glens Age Friendly Coordinator, said:
“Loneliness can affect people of all ages, but connection doesn’t have to be complicated.
“Through ‘Take 10 to Connect’, we’re encouraging everyone to take a few minutes out of their day to reach out to someone.”
Gabrielle Quinn, Chair of the Causeway Loneliness Network, added:
“The Causeway Loneliness Network is committed to supporting people to feel more connected within their communities. Campaigns like ‘Take 10 to Connect’ remind us that we all have a role to play. Whether it’s a quick phone call or a friendly chat, those small moments of connection can have a lasting impact.”
