| Introduction Christ Church is a growing, inclusive, multi-generational parish just minutes from downtown Milwaukee. Our worship is rooted in a traditional choral Eucharist while embracing a broad range of musical styles. This position begins January 1, 2027 and requires approximately 20-25 hours per week September through May and 5-10 hours per week June through August. Christ Church conducts a simple outdoor service in our large garden courtyard during the summer. Organ performance is much preferred; however, Christ Church will consider separating the organist role and adjusting compensation accordingly. Duties and Responsibilities Weekly Worship - Provide musical leadership at regular Sunday services as well as other special liturgical celebrations.
- Organize and direct the parish choir (September through May).
- Integrate children, families, and lay musicians into the program.
- Convene a group to play handbells 3-4 times per year. The Director of Music will have either the skills to direct handbells or the willingness to learn.
Administration - Maintain and expand the music library. Develop and administer the music budget.
- Maintain the organ, pianos, and other musical equipment of the parish.
