The animated video game adaptation is a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $1.3 billion worldwide against a reported budget of $100 million. A new franchise was born, and the performance of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this weekend suggests that audiences can’t get enough of Mario and Luigi’s adventures.
