About this grant

The Fund for Global Human Rights is a public charity based in Washington, D.C., with an office in London, that supports grassroots human rights organizations and movements around the world. Through its Enabling Environment for Human Rights Defenders Program, the grantee provides grants, technical assistance and strategic accompaniment to strengthen civil society organizations working in restrictive operating environments. During the previous grant period, the program: 1) supported more than 25 initiatives across Africa, Asia and Latin America; 2) strengthened collaboration with the Funders Initiative for Civil Society; and 3) expanded learning on strategies to address the misuse of security frameworks to restrict civic space. During this grant period, the grantee will: 1) deepen support for grassroots networks and movements; 2) expand work with youth and justice movements; 3) strengthen cross-regional learning and collaboration; and 4) continue engaging philanthropy on effective responses to shrinking civic space.
