The Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Japan has launched a cooperative framework to share Ukraine’s latest drone technologies for civilian use in Japan. The chamber was founded by Ukrainians living in Japan and others.

A news conference for the platform, named the Japan-Ukraine Drone Cluster, was held in Tokyo on Monday.

Ukraine has developed, amid Russia’s continuing invasion of the country, technologies that enable drones to operate under poor communication conditions and with limited GPS access. Such technologies are believed to be useful in Japan for disaster response and logistics.

The Cluster is designed to connect related companies in both countries. The chamber noted that already four Japanese companies are set to participate.

The President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, Kateryna Yavorska, said technologies that came out of the war’s conditions can be reversed into civilian application and will serve for emergency situations and for helping people.

Professor Okabe Yoshihiko of Kobe Gakuin University is an honorary director of the chamber. He described the Cluster as a way to truly strengthen the bonds between the two countries and to achieve sustainable international cooperation.
