What to Know
- Candidates seeking to become the next California governor and the next Los Angeles mayor meet Wednesday night in a debate double-header hosted by NBCLA and Telemundo 52.
- The following candidates qualified for their respective debates: For LA mayor, Karen Bass, Spencer Pratt and Nithya Raman. For California governor, Xavier Becerra, Chad Bianco, Steve Hilton, Matt Mahan, Katie Porter, Tom Steyer and Antonio Villaraigosa.
- The two live, one-hour debates begin with the Los Angeles mayoral debate at 5 p.m. followed by the California gubernatorial debate at 7 p.m.
- Wildfires, immigration, homelessness, public safety and quality of life will be the topics.
- In addition to NBC4’s broadcast channels, the live events will stream on nbcla.com, NBCLA mobile apps and the station’s free 24/7 local news streaming channel NBC Los Angeles News.
- A pivotal statewide June 2 primary election will determine who faces off in the November election. The top-two candidates advance to a runoff in November.
- The last day to register to vote for the June 2 primary election is May 18.
