Missing South Florida man’s body found in Boca Raton lake after 10 years
COUNTY. ANGELA ROZIER WPBF 25 NEWS. NEW AT SIX MORE THAN TEN YEARS AFTER A SOUTH FLORIDA MAN WAS FIRST REPORTED MISSING, HIS BODY WAS JUST RECOVERED IN BOCA RATON. STEVEN MACKEREL WAS FIRST REPORTED MISSING DURING THE SUMMER OF 2015. HE WAS LAST SEEN ON SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AT A FORT LAUDERDALE GAS STATION BEFORE VANISHING WITHOUT A TRACE. HIS FAMILY HAS SPENT THE LAST TEN YEARS WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED UNTIL HIS CAR WAS FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF A LAKE. DIVERS WITH SUNSHINE STATE SONAR, A VOLUNTEER GROUP THAT HELPS SEARCH FOR MISSING PEOPLE, FOUND THE CAR LAST WEEK. INVESTIGATORS CONFIRMED MACKEREL REMAINS WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE.
