New PS5 Releases Dawnwalker and Onimusha Both Top One Million Sales – Push Square

Onimusha manages it in just 24 hours
Despite releasing within a day of each other, it doesn’t seem like The Blood of Dawnwalker and Onimusha: Way of the Sword have eaten into each other’s sales all that much: both PS5 games have confirmed they’ve sold over one million copies since launch.
Capcom revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword achieved the milestone on its first day on the market, pushing the overall series to 10 million sales in total. The developer shared a new piece of art to celebrate on social media and said: “We are truly delighted that so many of you are playing this game! Thank you so much!”

The Blood of Dawnwalker developer Rebel Wolves did not attach a timeframe to its own sales announcement, but the social media tweet arrived two days after the RPG’s launch. “Thank you for playing, sharing, supporting, and being part of the community,” it added.

The two PS5 games kick off a packed month of new releases, including Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Control Resonant. We won’t know how much of an impact the crowded release calendar has on these bigger titles until sales are reported and the developers behind those games comment on the performances.

Looks like Capcom's decision to move Onimusha's release date back a week has paid off. Now it's among the first of the big September rush instead of being jammed pack in the middle of it.
Great to see Dawnwalker get some success too. That game wasn't massively hyped up compared to other games releasing this month, so it's good to see it fight through the crowded month and come out on top.

I got Onimusha on switch 2. Gonna let them iron out Dawnwalker and see if it comes to switch 2 as well before I grab it

Dawnwalker is great. I would've gotten Onimusha too, if not for Wolverine coming soon. I'll get it later this year.

I didn't expect to like Onimusha as much as I am right now tbh. So far it is my GOTY with how good it is.

After reading this article I had to check that these 2 games are not PS5 exclusives.

I'm loving Dawnwalker so far, haven't got Onimusha but it's on my list once release schedules die down a bit. Good for both of them, hopefully it means the planned trilogy for Dawnwalker is still in the pipeline, and maybe it won't be such a long wait for another Onimusha.

I'll be adding my purchase to the Onimusha pile later this year, when I've got less on my plate. Game looks great, Capcom just doesn't miss these days.

Got plenty of cash for September games because zero games coming out physical in rest of the year I want to get. The Blood of Dawnwalker (and maybe a wolverine) for me. Silent hill for my son’s birthday and Ace Combat for other son for Xmas.

Picked up Onimusha for the Series X as I am continuing the PS Boycott, been really enjoying it so far!

The reception for Onimusha has me considering a delay in purchasing Wolverine and getting Onimusha instead. I only have space for one of them before Control: Resonant releases, which I've preordered. Wolverine review embargo lifts in a few days, I'll make my decision then.
For those of you playing Onimusha – what are your favourite things about it?

Yes, I bought myself The Blood of the Dawnwalker and its suprisingly better than I expected. A very good kick-off. Just beat the prologe and the actual Open-World has opend up for me.

@Mr-Cage because it a ps news website that report only ps news so ya they are not going to say it on all platforms I understand where u coming from lol other sites do it too then I need search see if it coming out on a other platform lol

@Mr-Cage its just because its a ps fan site. Same with purexbox. They tend to put the same stuff in articles or headings/sub headers but swap the console to speak to the folks the site is aimed at. Where as sites like EG will be more general.

@Slayer25c If a game is being talked about here then it's going to be a playstation game it's more the overuse of PS5 in the headlines It is what it is there's worse things in the world says more about the quality of writing more than anything else especially if they are talking about sales numbers because then they aren't actually giving you the story just a watered down version

I played some of the Onimusha demo and it was Onimusha. I may play it some day but don’t see any rush. Pretty sure it will be half price or less by the time I have time to play it.
To give you a sense of my play time my wife and I started Spilt Fiction just last night. I bought it last summer for $35. Think that was a sale price from $50.

@Mr-Cage what other platforms? It only mentioned Xbox. It said other platforms but didn't specify which ones. Xbox One X? Oh, how will I ever know if they didn't specify?! I better log on and start crying about it since they didn't specify and I can't be bothered to take the 3 seconds to find out on my own.

Nice to see Onimusha WotS sold well. I was worried it wouldn't sell well when i look back at Onimusha 1 & 2 HD reception. But i'm glad i was wrong.

Grabbed Dawnwalker. Wasn’t sure which I’d enjoy more, but I figured that Rebel Wolves could use the sale more than Capcom

Onimusha looks excellent and is on my list to buy but at the £70 price point its a bit toooo expensive to get atm especially when things like Control, Townfall, Hellraiser are all selling at £45 or below on physical.

@ElPenitente Its there jobs to inform which is why they made the article in the first place I don't think it would take a rocket scientist to work out it would be on playstation aswell possibly switch 2 it is what it is I'm not losing sleep over but it just comes across substandard
