Paxton keeps close ties with Trump despite president’s popularity problems

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican running for U.S. Senate, is keeping close ties with President Donald Trump as the race reaches its final leg.

The candidate’s welcomed Trump’s support despite his administration’s popularity problems in the state, hopping onto the president’s platform despite its shaky structure.

Paxton thanked him Saturday, after Trump attributed a large business investment to him and Republican Roger Marshall, the Kansas senator, and championed the president’s handling of the high cost of living and flat labor market.

“I am always thankful for President Trump’s support and guidance, and for his leadership in bringing good-paying jobs back to America,” Paxton said in an X post. “Under President Trump, companies are investing in America again, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure Texas workers come first.”

More than half of likely Texan voters told Fox News’s reputable polling team earlier this month they dislike Trump’s job performance, and Americans across the country are turning against his economic policies. The president’s tariffs and war with Iran have raised prices for a range of goods and services, but he’s dismissed the high cost of living as a Democratic “hoax.”

Paxton’s following in Trump’s footsteps, taking his cue from him in an attempt to save his campaign. The candidate’s trailed in most polls over the course of the race.
