The annual Selichot event featuring Yitzhak Meir is taking place Saturday night at the Jerusalem Convention Center in the presence of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion. The traditional gathering, which has been held for more than a decade, is once again bringing together hundreds of participants for an evening of prayer, reflection and unity.
The program combines familiar melodies and songs from the Selichot prayers with extended prayer segments that have become a central part of the event over the years. Participants are invited to enter the spiritual atmosphere of the closing days of the month of Elul and prepare for the upcoming High Holy Days.
Yitzhak Meir and his accompanying musical ensemble lead the evening through song and prayer, with the audience joining throughout the program. Meir leads the prayers from the center of the hall as participants gather around him and take part in the singing.
The gathering at the Jerusalem Convention Center marks the opening of the Selichot period according to the Ashkenazi tradition, creating an atmosphere of prayer, holiness and spiritual reflection. The event is being held under the auspices of the Jerusalem Municipality’s Department for Jewish Heritage.
