CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Pitmaster Rodney Scott returned to the smoker Friday evening, hosting a pop-up barbecue event at Munkle Brewing on Meeting Street. The pop-up comes after the recent closure of Rodney Scott’s BBQ in Charleston.
Scott said the closure has not changed his commitment to cooking barbecue, a craft he has practiced for four decades.
“Well, I will say this … so buckle up, you’re in for a treat,” Scott told customers attending the event.

The pop-up drew barbecue fans eager to sample Scott’s signature whole-hog barbecue and support the James Beard Award-winning chef as he charts his next chapter.
Scott said he has no plans to stop cooking and is already preparing for his next event. His next pop-up is scheduled for June 12 at The Bus Shed.
Rodney Scott’s BBQ recently closed its Charleston location, but Scott indicated he plans to continue serving customers through future pop-up events.
