UNEP is inviting Member States to express interest in hosting World Environment Day 2027 or 2028, the world’s largest platform for environmental outreach, reaching hundreds of millions of people and mobilising governments and organisations across 150 countries.

Gain worldwide visibility and influenceIn 2025, over 56,000 top-tier media stories were generated across 56 languages, amplifying the host country’s efforts and vision.
In 2024, messages appeared on billboards, airports, ferries, and metro systems in 112 countries.
Mobilise action and inspire meaningful change for a healthier, more sustainable worldIn 2024, the global campaign reached more than 400 million people on social media and sparked 4,000 events and activities.
Interested countries are encouraged to submit their Expression of Interest by 16 February 2026.
