LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — President Donald Trump publicly shared what he said is Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton’s cellphone number in a Truth Social post Saturday morning.
The president urged Arkansans to call Cotton and ask him to vote for the Sunshine Protection Act, would make daylight saving time permanent.
Nobody wants to spend their precious time running all over the place, turning Clocks back twice a year and, having sunshine in the afternoon is better than early in the morning,” Trump said in the post.
Almost everybody wants “The Sunshine Protection Act” to pass, except for Tom Cotton. To the Great People of Arkansas, please let your Senator know it would be a GREAT Bipartisan WIN for the United States Senate, and for America, itself.
If approved by the Senate the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 would make daylight saving time the new, permanent standard time. According to the bill, states with areas exempt from daylight saving time may choose the standard time for those areas.
Sen. Cotton, in a post on X, shared his opposition to the legislation after Trump’s Saturday morning post.
In his post, President Trump cited the potential benefit to the PGA Tour as a reason to support the legislation.
The PGA TOUR, as an example, needs more Daylight in the afternoon in order to finish their Tournaments. Likewise, regular Golfers, Tennis Players, Hunters and, perhaps most importantly, Farmers who want more Daylight to play or work.
According to Congress.gov, the Sunshine Protection Act was most recently referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation”
